Red Drum Creation for Women
Throughout history women have held sacred roles in medicine making, soul tending, the mysteries of sex and of the blood. Ancient grave sites of woman shaman are still being discovered, and at the root of menstruation restrictions and taboo around the world is the recognition of increased forces of Life and Death coursing through a woman during her moon-time with many cultures honouring the power and sanctity of this blood.
Creating a Red Drum connects us to our primal nature, honours our bleeding time, enters us into a long lineage of medicine women and welcomes us into the sisterhood of Red Drum Carriers.
Coming together as a collective gives us a venue to reclaim that which society tends to want us to be quiet about: monthly bleeding, miscarriage, sacred sex, menarche & menopause, still birth, pregnancy, uterine & ovary loss as well as qualities of the divine feminine archetype: creation, intuition, medicine making, dreaming, energetic sensitivity, and connectivity with the natural world. Working with our drums and developing a rich relationship with this sacred tool anchors the essence of Sovereign Queen within each of us.
Drums have a rich history of use during shamanic journey work, sound/vibration healing, dance medicine, trance states, rites of passage, and for ceremonial use of all kinds. The history of the Red Drum Carriers begins with a dear friend, priestess, and shaman, Nikiah Seeds of Red Moon Pathways during her shamanic medicine reclamation and training. When creating her own drum, she journeyed for information and saw everything cloaked in red. Over the years she dove further into women's healing work, co-authored a book on menstrual wisdom, and found a long established connection between women and the colour red. Nikiah birthed a large community of red drum carriers and has established a team of Red Drum Leaders to bring this medicine way into even more hands.
I am blessed and very pleased to be one such Red Drum Leader offering this reclamation opportunity to those who identify as women - in both Squamish and Powell River.

Creation Details
~ a minimum of 6 participants are needed per creation gathering
~ our time together will be held in sacred ceremonial space with each participant making offerings to the land we gather on
~ we will journey to the animal & tree who gifted us use of hide and hoop as well as the spirit guide of your drum
~ drum uses, care, and any future decoration tips will be shared
~ we will create our drums together and discuss possibilities for their individual attunement and awakening ceremonies
~ I will share information on drum beater creation - which will be done on your own
~ potluck food will be blessed and shared
~ we will spend about 5+ hours together - your drum will dry over the following few days/week
~ a group photo will be taken and an invitation to Nikiah's Red Drum Carrier closed facebook group will be offered
~ cost per person is $250
