Juliette Jarvis ~ Personally

Juliette is a west coaster with a life long affinity for nature, it's creatures and the mystical stories passed to her from the women in her family. At home in the intertidal zone of the shoreline or tucked up in The Sanctuary, she is dedicated to living a soul-filled life both personally and professionally.
As a child and teen she experienced visions and premonitions which awoke her personal awareness to the realm of Spirit. Now she is a mother, a multi media artist, and ceremonialist, able to weave the sacred into these aspects of daily life. Her call to the 'shamanic' path was recognized after a combination of traditional factors, with the most symbolic element being receiving many venomous spider bites from three kinds of spider ~ Black Widow, Brown Recluse and Hobo. In the case of the Black Widows her body was completely covered in bites, yet through these situations, she did not suffer lasting deleterious effects. Ultimately these experiences lead her to a formal 'shamanic' training and animistic lifestyle.
A many-years-long personal life crisis, like all dark nights of the soul experiences, necessitated that each piece of healing, wisdom and training she received be integrated and lived deeply. Juliette has a deep understanding of how important it is to heal and maintain one's spiritual, energetic, and physical aspects to overcome adversity, to turn hardships into medicine and move from survival to soul-filled.
Juliette was also introduced to the healing impact of Reiki during a period of debilitating illness. After her first session, a session with 8 practitioners in tandem, her physical recovery was so immediate, that a non-believing witness became an advocate for this 'alternative' modality. Decades later, with a desire to return such healing opportunities as she had once received, Juliette began practicing Reiki in 2004 and opened a private healing practice.
It was because of her experience working with energy that Juliette was offered a job as a Brainwave Technologist in 2007 at Finlandia Natural Pharmacy's Brain Health Clinic. This holistic brain balancing technique utilized EEG equipment, neural technology, intimate knowledge of healthy brainwave electrical patterns, visualizations and energetic care for clients seeking relief from 'trauma imprints' in brain function. These clients needed a grounding presence and a room clear from the residual affects of people healing through past traumatic events. Previous technicians had been absorbing this residual energy which then manifested in physical ailments. Naturally her new knowledge of brainwave patterns and the healing power of restoring this balance came over into her private practice and vice versa, clients at the Brain Health Clinic also sought 'shamanic' healing to complete their holistic recovery. Eventually she discovered that EEG technology was not the only way to restore healthy brainwave patterns; with a developed sensitivity to energetic impulses, a robust understanding of brainwave patterns, and a form of muscle testing, Juliette is able to encourage positive change without electronic devices.
With hands on healing and brainwave balancing sharing a common theme of subtle physical electrical systems, Juliette found another similarity in the use of crystals and their affect on our well-being. She began a line of crystal elixirs, largely created during potent celestial events or community ceremonies. During one such event in 2012, an elixir was being created to align one's soul path with their day-to-day world. Three days later, the Brain Health Clinic shut its doors and Juliette dedicated herself full time to her healing practice.
Her artistic career began while still in highschool, with paintings showing and selling from British Columbia to Ontario and Quebec. Screeved pieces were photographed by Beautiful British Columbia magazine, and agents sold her work to private collectors through the 1990s. Juliette's paintings began to be more heavily influenced by her animistic lifestyle, intuition, and channelings. She received an invitation to present in the International Women's Day Art Show in 2015 and continued to show there annually until 2019 as well as in various solo showings on the west coast. During this time she assisted in a weekly Waldorf school art class and began privately tutoring children with a remedial focus as well as offering both group and individual adult painting sessions as a healing ceremony. Intentional paintings, photography, sculpture, and the making of sacred tools are integral components to her well-being.
Juliette is a regular contributor to the qathet Living and Witchy Moms magazines and periodic contributor to various newspapers and other publications. Interviews on podcasts and radio also happen from time to time with topics ranging from spiritual living to photographing garbage on the shores of British Columbia. Two books are also underway.

3 Fold Balance ~The Practice

- I began my private Reiki healing practice, The Reiki Connection, on Commercial Drive in Vancouver BC during 2007. Soon after, I became a neurofeedback technician and began to bring my knowledge of the brain and how it is affected by trauma, into my healing practice. It was during this time I was commissioned to write health & wellness articles for Finlandia Pharmacy that held spiritual living elements.
- My journey into 'shamanic' practice began in 2007 when I asked bean feasa, for insight about the many poisonous spider bites I had received. To continue this exploration, I entered into a 3 year Celtic based women's 'shamanic' apprenticeship.
- In 2011 I moved my practice to Squamish BC and began incorporating 'shamanic' healing services into both my neurofeedback and reiki clients' sessions. My offerings also began to include community ceremonies.
- By January 2013 I was offering 'shamanic' community gatherings and workshops in both Squamish and North Vancouver. Later that year, regular monthly journey circles had been established and my practice became known as 3 Fold Balance with a focus on trauma and personal crisis recovery.
- I began a small focus group called 'Shamanic Living' in support of a handful of dedicated journey circle attendees in 2015, and I undertook two 'Shamanic' Teacher courses with Sandra Ingerman who brought an emphasis to connecting 'shamanic' skills with people from all faiths and cultural backgrounds.
- The small focus group evolved into full year long 'Shamanic Living Immersion' program in 2016 and a second year program, 'Shamanic Medicine Ways' was developed. These programs support people in reclaiming their lost cultural traditions, cultivate a spiritual practice that is meaningful and seamlessly merges with day-to-day living, and reconnects and aligns us with the natural world.
- During 2017, a home & studio space on the Upper Sunshine Coast began its journey to becoming a healing retreat center. Community supported and carefully cultivated, "The Sanctuary" is a dream made reality. This space allowed me to expand my practice and offer services to my hometown of Powell River. Various magazine columns and regular monthly writing contributions to e-zines were also underway.
- 2018 saw the implementation of greater online supports with workshops and an augmented virtual 'Shamanic Living Immersion' program for long distance members. Oracle Cards and Mini Divination Cards were also birthed and are now available for purchase.
- In 2019 I moved fully into The Sanctuary. Able to dedicate to full time care taking and development, it was to become the hub for ceremonial activity, medicine gatherings, soul-tending retreats, and mentorship opportunities. Alas, after this year, the pandemic put these activities on hold and the idea to bring the 'Shamanic Living Immersion 'program into book form for greater accessibility, home study, and allow for beginning at any point within the year was seeded.
- 2020 has seen the 'Shamanic' Immersion programs re-written to rely less heavily on the word 'shamanic' as it is a misappropriated and narrowly understood term here in the west. The two, year-long immersion programs are now known as the Return to Reverence Immersion Program and consists of two years with select mentorship available. Further development of creative arts based methods of personal healing work & spiritual practice have been put on hold due to the pandemic and cessation of community offerings. More online courses have been added and the 3 month Medicine Bundle Carrier program began in the Spring.
At this time all in-person sessions and gatherings are on hold. - The creation of a west coast devotional arts practice through a new venue, The Selkie Sanctuary also came about in the autumn of 2020. Featuring ceremonial ceramics, hand woven ritual wear, string magic, talismans, and spirit dolls, my focus has shifted to hands on, tangible magic and healing objects created here in our beach cottage to be sent out to those who are drawn to such workings.
- In 2022, the Devotional Arts Program, a monthly online sacred making experience suited to creative heathens, witches, spirit walkers and energy workers began through the Selkie Sanctuary banner.
- Early in 2023 I was elected to the Secretary position for the Timberlane Fine Arts Association at the Annual General Meeting
- Soul Food in Starving Times my first eBook, became an international best seller, placing #1 in Spirituality and #1 in New Age Self Help
